emiliae

Snethlage’s titi monkey, Callicebus emiliae

Thomas described in 1911 Callicebus emiliae, based on a specimen from the Para Zoological Gardens . The species is probably named after Emilia Snethlage,  a German-born Brazilian naturalist and ornithologist.

Thomas described the species as “being distinguishable at a glance by the rich deep hazel or maroon-chestnut of its back”. However, it is generaly considered to be a synonym of Callicebus moloch.
