Olalla’s Titi Monkey, Callicebus olallae

In 1939 Lönnberg described a new titi monkey from Bolivia, Callicebus olallae. His description was based on one specimen, collected near the Rio Beni, La Laguna, near Santa Rosa, Bolivia”. He described the species as having the “general colour almost uniformly rufous, the ears comparatively well covered with brownish white hairs”.

Since its description, very little new information on the species has been obtained, but the past few years there has been fortunately been some good studies in its natural habitat. It is possible that this is a colour variation of Callicebus modestus. It is endemic to Bolivia.
