The Bolivian grey titi monkey (also known as the white-eared titi monkey or reed titi monkey) was named and pictured for the first time in 1839 by D’Orbigny, who encountered and collected the species on the borders of the rivers in the Moxod province, Bolivia.

The species is endemic to Bolivia.
